Like I did with all the Marvel stuff announced at Disney's Investor Day, I've decided to just condense everything we heard into one article. You'd think Star Wars lineup would pale in comparison to the heavy weights over at Marvel, but they proved they also had a lot in the works that even fans hadn't guessed. The success of The Mandalorian and backlash over the sequel trilogy has led to Disney changing their approach to Star Wars, specifically moving towards Disney Plus series rather than movies. They're also looking to fill in gaps of story between the past movies, and further exploring the world of Star Wars during that golden era which means familiar faces can show up at any point.
Hayden Christensen Will Return As Darth Vader
I figured I'd start with the biggest news of the day, as Katheleen Kennedy confirmed production of the Obi-Wan Disney Plus series is under way. She revealed it will take place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and that Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen would be playing Darth Vader. She also teased a "rematch of the century" which means the series will probably lead up to an inevitable face to face reunion between the two. Its unknown how much of Christensen will be seeing as he'll obviously be under the mask and be voiced over by James Earl Jones, but we will probably see Hayden as the burned Anakin in scenes with Ewan McGregor's Obi Wan.
Patty Jenkins Will Direct Rogue Squadron
Kennedy confirmed that Taika Waititi would be working on an unknown Star Wars film which had been rumored for some time now, but she also revealed Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins would be helming her own movie. It will focus on a team of Rebel pilots and will be released Christmas of 2023.
Lando Disney Plus Series
Little information was released for this one other than it of course will be about Lando Calrissian going on his own separate adventures. Its unknown whether the series will star Billy Dee Williams as the original Lando, or Donald Glover as the younger version from Solo. It honestly could even include both, but we'll have to wait and see.
Ashoka And Rangers Of The New Republic
Following the appearance of fan favorite of the Clone Wars animated series Ashoka in the recent Mandalorian episode, Rosario Dawson will be playing the character in an upcoming series. This could of course lead to her tracking down General Thrawne and Ezra Bridger, as well as learning more about Anakin since they last saw each other. Rangers of the New Republic will also be set in The Mandalorian timeline and focus on the Rebels seen in the show, with all three shows eventually leading to a crossover event.
Andor
Andor will serve as a prequel series to the film Rogue One focusing on Diego Luna's character of Cassian Andor who is a Rebel spy during the rise of The Empire. A sizzle reel for the show was shown which will be released on Disney Plus in 2022.

With Disney's Investor Day meeting taking place yesterday, us fans had a feeling we'd get some Star Wars and Marvel news. But I don't think anyone was expecting the amount of announcements and confirmations we got yesterday, its almost hard to keep track of it all. Rather than writing a separate article for each project that was announced yesterday, I've decided to just put everything Kevin Feige talked about here. That includes all the new Disney+ projects that were announced, along with release dates for some that were already in production, and trailers for three of the ones coming out next year. There's also casting confirmations, and even a new director pick Feige dropped yesterday. Scroll down to see all the updates.
Black Panther 2
So while this wasn't the first thing Feige talked about, its of course been a big topic of discussion given the sudden and recent passing of T'Challa himself Chadwick Boseman. Fans have wondered what the studio would do moving forward with the sequel already in the works, and under the belief no one really had the knowledge of Boseman's cancer so there weren't plans for this set. Feige put the rumors of a recasting to bed confirming Boseman will not be recast and that the movie is set for a July 8, 2022 release. He didn't give any other specifics other than that Ryan Coogler was working hard on the script, and one could expect there's still a lot of changes he has to make it work without original main star.
Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four actually got a shoutout from Feige at last year's event, but no other information was given other than confirmation they were working on their on version of Marvel's first family. Feige has apparently been much quicker to get the team into the MCU over the X-Men given their shakey movie history, and announced that Jon Watts director of all three of their Spider-Man movies will be directing this film as well. We can probably expect the team to be very connected to Spidey, especially with them sharing his home of New York. Are they the new inhabitants of Avengers tower? Where have they been all this time? Hopefully we'll get some hints from Watts in Spider-Man 3.
WandaVision
Being that its the first show we're getting next January, the WandaVision footage was the longest of the day. It showed off the many different eras of sitcoms that have inspired the world Wanda created in her mind, but also shows many of the people she has brought into this world glitching out. It also shows people trying to get in contact with her and possibly manipulating her into doing this, as well as the involvement of S.W.O.R.D. the organization that replaced S.H.I.E.L.D. We also see Wanda wanting to fight them off, showing she may now want to leave this world she created where Vision is still alive, even if evil forces are manipulating her. It'll be interesting to see not only who the big villain manipulating Wanda is, but also how this will tie into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness which she's set to appear in.
Loki
Loki was the Disney+ show we actually still hadn't seen footage from up until this point, but we do get a reminder of the scene in Endgame that sets this show up when he escapes with the tesseract. We see the show will follow Loki time traveling and meddling with historic events to have his way with the world. We also see this has gotten the attention of the Time Variance Authority, who capture Loki for all the mischief he's causing through timelines. Loki will apparently be given tasks by the TVA in exchange for his freedom, which could include the rumor of hunting down alternate timeline versions of himself including Lady Loki.
The TVA also opens the door for some answers to how much damage The Avengers did to the Multiverse, and possibly also set things up for Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2. There's also Jonathan Major's Kang who is the TWA's biggest headache in the comics as a big time traveler villain, who we know will be appearing in Ant-Man 3. Overall the shows seems to have a wacky and chaotic vibe similar to Ragnarok, and even shows Loki learning of the fate he meets in the Infinity War timeline we know.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
This trailer was a little more straight forward, mainly action showing and location shots shown throughout very visually similar to the previous Cap films. We see Bucky now sporting a shorter hairstyle and new suit, alongside our new Captain America Sam Wilson who still hasn't taken the mantle yet by the looks of it. We see that the show will obviously deal with Sam struggling with the void left by Steve the pressure of replacing him. We also see the returning Baron Zemo at a memorial of Sokovia, showing he's still seeking his revenge. We see a masked girl who is believed to be the character Songbird from the comics who's part of a group known as the Flag Smashers who appear to be working with Zemo. There's also another shot of US Agent who is the Cap replacement selected by the government while they oppose Steve's selection of Sam as his predecessor. Feige also revealed the show will be hitting Disney Plus March 19, 2021.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Not much was announced here other than the title which clearly hints to more Quantum Realm antics. Feige also confirmed the casting of Jonathan Majors as villain Kang the Conquerer who is well known for being a time travel and coming from the future, so this MCU's connection between that and the Quantum Realm makes sense for this movie. Director Peyton Reed is returning along with the cast Paul Rudd, Michelle Pfieffer, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lily. The role of Scott Lang's daughter has also been recast from Endgame with actress Kathryn Newton, which probably signals she'll have an expanded role in the MCU's future.
She-Hulk
Last year at this time is when the She-Hulk was announced, a comic book character who is the cousin of Bruce Banner and receives similar powers after receiving a blood transfusion. Tatiana Maslany was confirmed as the lead, and Mark Ruffalo will also be joining the cast. The most surprising addition here though was Tim Roth returning as Emil Blonsky aka Abomination, the character who was a villain in The Incredible Hulk. This makes Roth the second cast member from Incredible Hulk to return after William Hurt's General Ross. Feige also teased the She-Hulk will be a lawyer for superheroes, so we can expect some surprise appearances.
Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel was another show announced last year, and while we get some footage of Kamala Khan with her family, the majority of the footage focused on the casting process and finding Iman Vellina. We know she's a young Pakistani girl growing up in New Jersey with her family, but we don't yet know how she'll get her powers. We we do learn is she idolizes Captain Marvel and she will be appearing in the sequel for the movie alongside Brie Larson.
Armor Wars and Ironheart
Two shows connecting to the world of Iron Man were announced, one of which will involve Don Cheadle as James Rhodes aka War Machine. It will deal with Rhodey tracking down people who have stolen Tony Stark's technology and using for harm. Ironheart follows a young African American girl genius who creates her own armor inspired by what Tony Stark did and will be played by actress Dominique Thorne.
Secret Invasion
Another surprising announcement was the adaption of the Secret Invasion storyline involving the Skrulls disguises themselves throughout the Earth. This was obviously teased in Captain Marvel and will see the return of the Skrull character of Talos along with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the series. Many expected this storyline to make it onto the big screen so seeing it as a Disney+ series was a bit of a surprise, but it makes sense given how much multiverse and time travel is going on already in the MCU.
Thor: Love and Thunder, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, I Am Groot, Hawkeye
Alright so I'll just group this together since I'm sure you don't want to keep scrolling and I really don't want to keep writing either. I'll do us both a favor. Christian Bale is playing Gorr the God Butcher, the villain of Thor: Love and Thunder. A Guardians Holiday Special will be released on Disney+ in 2022. Hailee Steinfeld is confirmed as Kate Bishop, Clint Barton protege in the Hawkeye series coming later next year.

Its been a while since we've gotten to see Superman on the big screen, with Henry Cavill's time as the character still up in the air, we've only had a brief cameo of from the big blue boy scout in Shazam! to keep us satisfied. Thankfully CW seems to be well aware of this Superman drought, as they're providing us with not one, but three different Clark Kents from alternate universes in their upcoming crossover event Crisis On Infinite Earths. Months ago the big news that Brandon Routh, who played Kal-El in Superman Returns and has since found a place at CW as The Atom, would be playing a Kingdom Come version of the character. And in some more shocking news, we found out Tom Welling would also be returning as his version of Clark from Smallville.
Now with pretty much all the big announcements out of the way, the network has begun to give us a look at what both actors will look like as their versions of the character. Its important to note that Routh won't actually be playing the exact version of Clark that he played in Returns, as that was of course a continuation of Christopher Reeves' version. He will instead be playing an adaption of the older version of the character from the Kingdom Come storyline of the comics, which is evident in the suit that includes the black Superman symbol as well as the grey temples in his hair.
Welling on the other hand is playing the exact version of Clark Kent that he did in Smallville, and will be accompanied by his version of Lois Lane played by Erica Durance. Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum was apparently offered to return for the event as well, but ultimately declined due to personal reasons and lack of information about the script. Its unknown whether Welling will actually finally suit up fully as Superman in Crisis On Infinite Earths, having never worn the suit throughout the entirety of Smallville back when he was just known as "The Blur".
The Arrowverse of course already has its own version of Superman played by Tyler Hoechlin, so its been clear for some time that Smallville took place in an alternate universe despite them both being CW shows. There's other big cameos from actors who have played DC characters in the past including voice actor Kevin Conroy as an older version of Batman, the original Robin Burt Ward from the 60s series, and Ashley Scott as Huntress from the Birds of PreyCW series. There's also been rumors that Lynda Carter could be making a surprise appearance as a version of Wonder Woman, but this has yet to be confirmed.

This summer brought us one the most surprising and dark takes on the superhero genre in Amazon's The Boys, and it shouldn't be a surprise that a second season is already in the works given the show's success. Following all the crazy events of season 1, the show-runners still have many questions left to answer and plot lines to continue. While we know most of the original cast will be returning including several members of The Boys and The Seven, we now know some of the new faces that will be joining in on the madness and what characters they will be playing.
For those who haven't seen the show, there will be some major spoilers for Season 1 ahead. As well all know the first season ended with some pretty major cliffhangers, the biggest being the death of one of the heads of Vought Madeline Sitwell (Elisabeth Shue) after it is revealed she has been keeping secrets from Homelander (Antony Starr). We also get the big reveal that Billy Butcher (Karl Urban)'s wife never actually died during childbirth, and she has given birth to a raised the son of Homelander. Meanwhile The Boys including Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Kapon) are all now on the run after being rescued by Starlight (Erin Moriarty) from a vengeful A-Train, who has seemingly overdosed on ComboundV.
That's obviously a lot to take in, and there's several different directions the show can take and decisions these characters can make. We know that Homelander will most likely be the clear main antagonist of Season 2, but we also know he has created several super terrorist around the world using ComboundV. We also don't know if Homelander will still be loyal to Vought or The Seven, or if the team even will exist now with the possible death of A-Train (Jessie T. Usher). Fans have already speculated The Deep (Chace Crawford) could be getting a redemption arc at some point switching sides against Vought ala Steve Harrington from Stranger Things, but as far as we know the character still is in Ohio.
One of the returning names recently confirmed is Malcolm Barrett (Timeless) as Vought marketing employee Seth, who was revealed to have had a tragic sexual encounter with a supe in the support group Billy and Hughie visit. Some of the new characters being introduced are Victoria Neuman played by Claudia Doumit (Timeless), who will be a young congresswomen. Its likely she'll play a role in the on going argument over having superheroes join the military from season one, and how the reveal of the super terrorists has affected this. Meanwhile yet another Timeless alum Goran Visnjic will play Alistair Adana, the head of a mysterious church. We've already seen how religion has played a role in the world of The Boys as shown through Ezekiel and the way Vought used it to make supes believe their powers were god given rather than made in a lab. This will likely play into that and possibly more of Starlight or even Homelander's past, or could just be a whole new organization introduced to the show.

Amidst all the Spider-Man drama playing out right now between Sony and Disney, Marvel Studios seemingly wants to still give fans something to lift their spirits. While the studio made most of their upcoming project announcements at this year's Comic-Con, they apparently saved some for this week's D23 conference in Anaheim. While their had been rumblings Disney would announce another big project, they instead gave us three which include the likes of Ms. Marvel, She Hulk, and Moon Knight. Similar to the early Marvel Netflix shows, the studio felt these character were best served on as a streaming series rather than films. But unlike with the Netflix characters, we know these three will definitely be connected to the MCU.
Ms. Marvel is a character who has become very popular in recent years in the comics with her alter ego being Kamala Khan who will be the first Muslim character in the MCU. She comes from a Pakistani-American religious family who lives in New Jersey, and she looks up to her idol Captain Marvel. The character is a teenager in the comics so this addition also brings in a new young hero who could join The Avengers down the line, and may end up partially taking the place of Spider-Man as the "new kid".
She-Hulk is a character who has been rumored for some time, and with Hulk seemingly never getting his own solo movie in the MCU the options to introduce her character were becoming slim. In the comics she's Bruce Banner's cousin, a lawyer named Jennifer Walters who gets a blood transfusion from him and ultimately gives her similar powers. It'll be interesting to see if Mark Ruffalo makes an appearance in the show, especially given how much Disney wants these shows to tie into the big screen MCU.
Then there's Moon Knight, a character who many fans wanted to see join the Netflix Marvel universe back when Daredevil and Punisher were getting their own shows. He's considered one of the darker Marvel superheroes, and even sometimes referred to as their answer to Batman. A series or movie based on him was almost inevitable, and sure enough fans have finally gotten what they wanted. The character has ties to ancient Egypt and some supernatural elements, and with Mahershala Ali's Blade now joining the MCU Moon Knight should fit in nicely.
Some other announcements and footage was shown for Disney+ shows that were already announced. We now know that Emily VanCamp's Agent Sharon Carter (Niece of Beggy) will be returning for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, along with Wyatt Russell playing the new role of US Agent. In the comics US Agent serves as a sort of Captain America wannabe, so its possible this version of the character could have been the government's attempt to replace Steve Rogers. We also know that WandaVision will apparently almost be a 1950s sitcom, with it being the way Wanda imagines her life with Vision in her head. MCU comedic relief character such as Kat Denning's Darcy and Randall Park's Agent Jimmy Woo will also be regulars on the show.

Its hard to believe its already been three years since we first met the kids of Hawkins on the Netflix series Stranger Things, and the series has become something of a cultural phenomenon since then. At has spawned career for many of its leading actors, who were only twelve when the show started production. So the trailer for season 3 which premieres this fourth of July almost feels like catching up with old friends, and an emphasize on the word old. The trailer doesn't shy away from the fact that its young leads of aged since they first showed up on screen together, and will explore that shift in adolescence with the backdrop of the usual sci-fi craziness they seem to attract.

As I stated above, the trailer focuses a lot more on the evolution of characters and their relationships with each other rather than giving away much of its plot. We know Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mad Max (Sadie Sink) will blossom into a friendship, with some great scenes including a set taking place in the mall. We also get a hint that this season will focus on the theme of things changing for the group as they get older and aren't kids anymore, with Mike's (Finn Wolfhard) voiceover explaining that. This will apparently hit Will (Noah Schnapp) harder than the rest of the group as we see him holding a photo of the guys together in their Ghostbusters costumes.
There's also of course the return of the bromance between Steve (Joe Keery) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), as the former will be working at an ice cream shop at the mall we see will serve as an important setting. We also get the return of Max's brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery), who will be working as a lifeguard at the local pool and still flirting with Mike's mom. There's been some speculation that Billy could eventually turn into the creature we see later in the trailer after being possessed, but thats just fan fiction at this point. There were complaints that the second season of the show didn't do as much with the older teen characters, so seeing the involvement of Steve, Billy, Nancy (Natalie Dyer), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) in the trailer is exciting.
Netflix hasn't been so loyal to some of their successful projects in the past such as the Marvel shows that were all canceled this past year, but it seems the Duffer Brothers are being given the freedom to fully develop their planned storyline for Stranger Things. While the cast is getting older, and there's only so many times we can see the Demogorgan attack Hawkins before its too much, season 3 might not be the conclusion to the series the trailer makes it feel it is. With the trailer already gathering hype from fans, and a return to summer release date, its looking like this season may very well give the first a run for its money.

Despite the gripes fans have with the prequel trilogy of Star Wars George Lucas developed in the early 2000s, most of them will agree Ewan McGregor made a pretty damn good Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney has apparently taken notice of the desire from audiences to see more of this younger version of the character, and an explanation of what he was up to between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Its a part of Star Wars mythology that has been up in the air for years, and with Boba Fett and Han Solo movies in developed it looked like it was right around the corner. Sure enough, the failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story halted the breaks on any future spin-offs.
But apparently the Obi-Wan Kenobi story may still have some life to it according to Star Wars News Net, only this time as a series on the new Disney streaming service Disney Plus. The company has already shown their willingness to tell big budget stories on this platform, with a Jon Favreau helmed Star Wars series called The Mandalorian set as one of its main features. With a strong Star Wars presence already on Disney Plus, it wouldn't be surprising to see it become the home of more of their properties. Its certainly much more low risk than releasing another full spin-off film and having it flop, something that already proved costly for the studio with Solo.
The studio is apparently waiting to see how well The Mandalorian does before green lighting the project. Currently The Mandalorian has some great buzz around it with other talented directors like Taika Waititi and Bryce Dallas Howard involved alongside Favreau, as well as big name stars like Pedro Pascal (Narcos) and Gina Carona (Deadpool). Where as The Mandalorian is based on completely new characters, an Obi-Wan series would obviously be focusing on one of the most beloved and famous characters from both trilogies. Add into that the likely hood that Ewan McGregor, now a much bigger name than he was in the early 2000s, returning to reprise his role and you have a big draw for fans to join the subscription service and watch the show.
This just adds to the already exciting programming Disney Plus will have to offer, with Marvel Studios already announcing they will have several series focusing on their smaller characters like Loki and Vision and Scarlett Witch. There's also been rumors that all the recently canceled NetflixMarvel shows such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Punisher could find new life on the platform. With so much already in the works for Disney Plus, it'll likely be a while before things move any further on an Obi-Wan series. But there's no doubt the studio would bring on the talent and provide the budget to do the character the justice a movie would, given the effort they're already putting into their other projects.

Since the moment Disney bought LucasFilm, the company hasn't stopped producing as much Star Wars content as they can. But unfortunately following the disappointment of Solo: A Star Wars Story early this year, the studio has scrapped plans for other spin-off projects and has decided to focus on the current trilogy of films. But this recent news certainly doesn't apply to TV shows, as Jon Favreau's long awaited live-action Star Wars series finally found a perfect home with Disney's new streaming service. Now we have gotten new details about the show including what it will be about, what big name directors are on board, and who may be starring as the lead.
Favreau who is executive producing and writing the series revealed that it will in fact be called The Mandalorian, who exist as a race of warriors in the Star Wars universe that includes the likes of Jango and Boba Fett. This of course explains why the main character we see in the first image from the show (Which you can see above) is wearing their same armor. The series will be taking place three years after the events of Return of the Jedi, with the galaxy now under the role of the New Republic. This is a time period that hasn't yet been explored in the Star Wars films, and could also tease some things that happen in the current trilogy.
The plot description seen above explains that the lead will be from the Mandalorian planet, but is described as a lone gunslinger. Despite this, we're sure to get some more insight into this person's past and the civilization they came from through some kind of flashbacks or backstory. Dave Filoni is apparently going to direct the pilot episode, and he's someone who is best known for his work on the successful Disney XD series Star Wars: Rebels,and Clone Wars. The Mandalorian culture is something that Filoni already has explored in Rebels, and will more than likely re-explore here. Other big time directors who have come on board include Bryce Dallas Horward (Solemates), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), and fan favorite Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
Its unknown just how many episodes each director will be working on, but we're expecting about a ten episode season considering the length of the Marvel shows that are going to be on Disney Plus. Waititi particularly is someone who Star Wars fans have even wanted to see play Boba Fett, but had ultimately said he wouldn't work on a film in the series. Well I guess this technically doesn't count. Rumors have also suggested that the main role of the show will be played by Pedro Pascal, but this has yet to be confirmed. The role certainly seems like something up Pascal's alley given the type of morally ambiguous yet charismatic characters he's played on shows like Narcos and Game of Thrones.

At this point in the MCU, it feels like just about everyone has gotten their time in the spotlight. With Hulk getting a big role in Thor: Ragnarok after not having a movie for years, Hawkeye getting a lot more to do in Age of Ultron, and Black Widow even getting her own movie soon, its easy to forget some characters haven't been so lucky. Well it seems like this hasn't gone unnoticed by Marvel Studios, as they've announced they will be creating eight episode TV shows based on smaller side characters who audiences want to see more of. While Loki and Scarlet Witch are the two names that have been mentioned, it seems that there may be many more in the pipeline.
Unlike the Netflix shows such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher, these will be directly tied to the MCU. Its thought they may actually fill in story gaps and will become required viewing for fans who want to understand everything going on in the upcoming movies. The Netflix shows and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have both suffered to get all the fans the movies have for that exact reason, they don't feel like you have to see them. It seems this will also be why the series will only be eight episodes, to make it a more contained and cinematic feeling story.
All the actors who play these characters on the big screen such as Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston are expect to reprise their roles, but we also can expect cameos from bigger star characters key to their lives including Chris Hemsworth and Thor and Paul Bettany as Vision. As of right now we know the fate Scarlet Witch and Loki faced in Infinity War, so its likely these shows will be taking place before those events. It'll be interesting to see what other side characters get their own shows with names like Falcon, Winter Soldier, Valkyrie, Mantis, and Hawkeye all already having been thrown around.
The approach to these news shows is already vastly different from past endeavors, as they will actually be produced by Marvel Studios rather than Marvel TV. That means mastermind Kevin Feige will be the one calling the shots on these shows, making them hopefully feels more in line with what we've been getting on the big screen in both quality and continuity. Disney's streaming service (Rumored to be called Disney Plus) is already making big strides with this news, as well as their Jon Favreau run live action Star Wars show, a new adaption of Lady and the Tramp, and a Monsters Inc. show. The company is hoping to rival Netflix with this new service, and right now it seems they might have enough original content to do just that.

In the early days of this website, I didn't have the knowledge I do now about this little known website called Rotten Tomatoes. Had I known what I know now, I wouldn't have forced my family to see the dumpster fire that was M. Night Shyamalan's adaption of The Last Airbender. Thankfully the director has since gotten a second chance and has made the most of it with the hit film Split and its sequel Glass on the way. But Shyamalan apparently isn't the only one getting his chance at redemption, as apparently The Avatar himself will star in an all new Netflix series based on the Nickelodeon cartoon. The series is expected to start production in 2019, with its original creators serving as showrunners.
Creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko assure fans that this version of the show will feature "culturally appropriate" and "non-whitewashed" characters. This of course is directly addressing the controversy over how Shyamalan cast his movie, with white actors as the film's main three leads. Its likely young Asian actors will be found for these parts with DiMartino and Koniezko now involved, and with the Netflix brand on it the show could still bring in a big name or two for the adult roles.
Avatar was one of the most popular shows during my era of Nickelodeon growing up, and certainly has a mythology that lends itself to a big budget series more than a movie. In the same vein as the recently adapted Series of Unfortunate Events, both properties had an attempt at a film adaption that ultimately led to nothing. Series of Unfortunate Events was able to make the most of its second chance at Netflix, so I can only imagine The Last Airbender will do the same.
The original series follows a boy named Aang who is freed from ice by Katara and Sokka, and informed he is the last remained airbender on Earth. Is the new avatar Aang must learn to master all the elements (water, fire, and earth remaining) and does so by amercing himself in each benders separate tribe. He does all this amidst the threat of the evil Fire Nation, including one of the series main antagonists Prince Zuko. It'll be interesting to see who is cast as key characters such as Zuko, Katara, Sokka, and of course Aang in the coming months.

This past summer, a little known show called Stranger Things made its debut on Netflix. No one knew much about it, including its cast of unknown young actors, its mysterious sci-fi plot, and its 1980s setting. But it didn't take long for the nostaglia and genius of Stranger Things to wow everyone around the world with a Netflix account, including several celebrities and just about all of Hollywood. The kids who starred on the show have since blown up on social media, and have made appearance on shows like Jimmy Fallon, and even the Emmys. With so much success, the series was bound to get a second season, and now we finally know two new faces that'll be coming to Hawkins, Indiana.
Well to start things off, we know that the majority of the original cast will be returning, specifically the kids Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin. The main mystery is whether Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven will be returning, but that will likely remain under wraps until the show returns. We can also awesome we'll be seeing Will's mom, Harper, Jonathan, and Nancy return for the next set of adventures. We now have confirmation that Joe Keery will return as bully turned fan favorite Steve Harrington, and Noah Schnapp will return in a much larger capacity as Will Byers.
As far as the new cast goes, both Montgomery and Sink will be playing two new characters who cross paths with original gang, and are brother and sister. Sink's character is named Max and is described as "a tough and confident girl whose appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era. She has a complicated history and is generally suspicious of those around her." Montgomery on the other hand, who we'll see next year as Jason in Power Ranger is playing her older brother Billy who is "Max’s hyper-confident and edgy older step-brother. He steals girlfriends away from their boyfriends, is great at drinking games and drives a black Camaro. But lurking under his apparent charisma, is a violent and unpredictable nature."
Sink's character will most likely be interacting with the main group of kids, where as Billy will probably cross paths with Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan. We still don't know how these two will factor into the plot, but we do know they'll be important. There's still one more new character who has yet to be cast according to The Hollywood Reporter, and that's Roman who is "a male or a female of any ethnicity between the ages of 30 and 38. After growing up homeless with a drug-addicted mother, he or she suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since. Roman is ultimately an outsider who doesn’t understand how to connect with people." We'll most likely find out who's playing Roman in the coming weeks before season 2 starts shooting this month.

Marvel Studios has certainly found a way to do their street level heroes justice without having them lead their own films. The partnership between them and Netflix has already brought us the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and will also be bringing us Iron Fist, The Defenders, Punisher, and of course Luke Cage himself. Mike Colter will be returning as the famed comic book character he previously portrayed in Jessica Jones, this time leading his own show on the streets of Harlem, New York.

Unlike the trailer released at Comic-Con, this one gives us a better idea of the story and supporting character we'll be seeing in the show. Rosario Dawson's character Claire Temple who fans will recognize from Daredevil will apparently be playing a significant role in the show if this trailer is anything to go by. We also get a peak of the origins of Cage and how he got his powers in an experiment done on him while he was in prison.

Show runner Cheo Hodari Cooker has already described the show as superhero version of the hit series The Wire, with a lot of it dealing with street level crime and the corrupt politics of Harlem. The show will also be going for a very 90s hip hop vibe that the trailer itself gives off, and the soundtrack will certainly factor into that as well. It seems like Luke Cage has a strong cast of supporting characters and actors that'll surely make the narrative even more interesting. Having said that, one can't help but wonder if any other heroes will be making an appearance throughout the series, specifically Cage's partner in crime in the comics Danny Rand, who is set to appear in his own show very soon. Can we expect to see the Heroes for Hire unite on screen in an early introduction for the character? One can only hope so.

Following the success of both The Flash and Arrow on network TV, one would have expected for Supergirl to have had similar prosperity on a big channel like CBS. Well that wasn't exactly the case, as the show had a tough first season ratings wise and was ultimately given the axe by CBS. Thankfully for fans of the show, it has since been picked up by CW and will be given a second chance with an all new season set to premiere this Fall. The network has wasted no time making big changes to the show, as they've recently announced the inclusion of Superman in the first two episodes of season 2.
Up until this point the show has only made mention and shown silhouettes of the Man of Steel, who in the comics and presumably in the show is the cousin of Supergirl aka Kara Zor El. The show made an effort to keep Superman's face shrouded in mystery for the entire first season, and it seemed like they were going to keep it that way through the entire series. Yet with the announcement that he would be featured in the first two episodes of next season, its likely he will now play a much larger role in the narrative of the show.
EWwere the ones who got the big scoop that Hoechlin who is known for his roles on Teen Wolf and in the recent Richard Linklater film Everybody Wants Some has landed the part. Hoechlin seems like a strong fit for the role, and previously had his name attached to the role of Bruce Wayne in Batman V. Superman, but lost out to the older Ben Affleck. Surely Hoechlin stayed on DC's list for any future roles, which is why he has now gotten the opportunity to play one of their characters according the producer Andrew Kreisberg.
Fans had voiced their support to see Tom Welling return as Superman as soon as the character was announced to appear in Supergirl. Welling is of course well known for playing the role on the hit CW series Smallville, where he played Clark Kent for ten seasons and became the version of the character many people of this generation identified with. While Welling himself never chimed in on the Supergirl rumors, fans are surely disappointed that they won't get to see him reprise the role and finally don the red cape.
