Marvel And Netflix Finally Find Their 'Iron Fist' In The Form of 'Game of Thrones' Actor Finn Jones

British actors playing American superheroes has become a recent trend in Hollywood, with the likes of Superman, our last two Spider-Mans, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and more all being played by actor from across the pond. Now you can add Marvel's Iron Fist aka Danny Rand to that list, as English actor Finn Jones of Game of Thrones fame has landed the lead role in the upcoming Netflix series. Jones will join an already impressive cast of Marvel/Netflix superheroes which already includes Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher. 

The news of Jones casting originally came as a rumor from The Hashtag Show, and was later confirmed by several news outlet and eventually Marvel themselves. Jones is a relatively unknown actor who hasn't done much aside from his seventeen episode tenor on Game of Thrones as Ser Loras Tyrell. Marvel has been going for smaller name actors mainly known for their work in TV for most of their Netflix roles, so Jones certainly fits that mold pretty well. 

For a while there many fans began to question whether we would even be getting an Iron Fist series, and rumors had circulated that a show starring Jon Bernthal's Punisher would likely replace it. Most of this speculation began because we hadn't heard much from Marvel ever since they had announced the Iron Fist series, and there had been no word on who would be cast in the part. Luke Cage actor Mike Colter had hinted in the past that Marvel had already cast the role but was waiting to make an official announcement, so it is likely that the role has belonged to Jones for a while now.

There still hasn't been word on when the Iron Fist series will be making it debut on Netflix, but its likely that we could see the character introduced in the Luke Cage series set to premiere later this year. At the very least we can expect the show to hit before we get to see The Defenders series, which will be teaming up all of Marvel's Netflix heroes in one show.

Adaption Of Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' Lands Idris Elba And Matthew McConaughey

Development hell can be a dark and tedious experience for everyone involved in a film, and such has been the case for The Dark Tower. The adaption of the famed Stephen King novel has been tossed around between studios and filmmakers since 2007, and has had several big names attached to it at certain points. Now it seems the film has finally gained its footing with director Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) at the helm, and has finally found its protagonist and antagonist. These two pivotal roles will be brought to the big screen by the likes of actors Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar) and Idris Elba (Beast of No Nation).

The trio of Elba, McConaughey, and King all confirmed the new via their Twitter accounts Tuesday. The news doesn't come as much of a surprise as the film is set to be released January 13th next year, so it was only a matter of time before we got some sort of casting news. Elba will be playing the lead role of 'The Gunslinger' Roland Deschain who is described as a character very similar to Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The character is tasked with finding The Dark Tower and using its power before it ends up in the wrong hands.

The role of Roland is of course the most pivotal of the Dark Tower series, so Elba's casting should come as a relief to fans. Javier Bardem has been attached to the role a few years back, but that was when Dark Tower was being looked at as a possible HBO series. Elba has recently made a big splash in the film industry after gaining a reputation for his work on the TV series Luther. Has recent successes have included his role as Heimdall in the Thor series, his role in 2013's Pacific Rim, and his recently acclaimed part in the film Beasts of No Nation.

King and Arcel also managed to land a huge name in Matthew McConaughey in the role of the series' main villain 'The Man in Black' aka Walter Padick who goes by many aliases throughout the books. McConaughey himself is of course a very impressive name to add to the film's cast, coming off his Oscar win just two years ago for his performance in Dallas Buyer's Club.  He has also had recent success in films such as Wolf of Wallstreet and Interstellar, as well as a part in HBO's True Detective.

Tye Sheridan Joins The Cast of Steven Spielberg's 'Ready Player One' In The Lead Role Of Wade Watts

Tye Sheridan has become a young actor to look out for in recent years, with films such as Mud and Joe to his credit. The actor has proven himself capable of holding his own opposite big name actors such as Brad Pitt and Nicolas Cage, and has recently landed his first big market role as Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse. Now Sheridan has landed yet another huge part as the lead character of Wade Watts in Steven Spielberg's adaption of the sci-fi novel Ready Player One.

Since its release back in 2011, the Ernest Cline novel Ready Player One has garnered a lot of interest from Hollywood. Several directors attached to the project at some point, with Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan having thought to be the favorite to helm the film. The gig instead landed in the hands of Steven Spielberg himself, which seems fitting considering the amount of 80s references in the book, some of which make mention of Spielberg's classics of the time period. 

The book follows a virtual reality video game known as OASIS, whose creator James Halliday recently passed away and planted several easter eggs throughout the game (Which are full of 80s pop culture references). The main character of Wade Watts is one of several gamers who is embarking on the journey as his avatar Parzival to find the prize and win the fortune of the game's creator before the wrong person does. Sheridan will more than likely be playing the duel role of both Watts and Parzival, and seems like a fitting choice for the part. Sheridan fits the typical Spielberg mold of relatively unknown actors on the come-up who are younger than twenty years old.

Aside from being based on an acclaimed and successful book, Ready Player One already has a lot going for it. The film recently moved from its original release date of December 2017 to March 2018 after Star Wars: Episode 8 moved to the exact same day Ready Player One had been scheduled for. Sheridan joins an already impressive cast with the likes of Olivia Cooke (Me Earl and the Dying Girl) as Art3mis, and Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Nolan Sorrento. With all these talented actors being led by a legend such as Spielberg, its hard to get excited for this film.

'Justice League: Part 1' To Begin Filming In April; Zack Snyder Reveals A Peek Of Flash And Aquaman's Costumes

Exactly one month from tomorrow, fans will finally get see two of the world's most popular superheroes go head to head in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. While the film's marketing has gone into full effect, certain mysteries about the movie still remain unknown. There have all been several rumors about how it will connect to the upcoming Justice League films, but we know little about those movies aside from who will direct (Zack Snyder) and who will be playing a majority of the heroes. But a new picture of Snyder and Aquaman actor Jason Momoa gives us our first look at some of the costumes that will be worn in the film.

Snyder has a tendency to tease his fans with obscure peaks of his characters on his Twitter account, so this image doesn't come as a huge surprise. One must assume Momoa and Snyder knew that the costumes could be seen in the background of the photo and posted the picture knowingly, with the intention of increasing excitement for the Justice League film. The film itself starts filming in April, so its understandable that the costumes have already been prepared, and Momoa and Snyder are both giving them a look.

Several items can be seen in the photo including a Batman cowl that may be different from the one he will wear in Dawn of Justice, and possible concept art of Aquaman's wife Mera (Played by Amber Heard) towards the bottom left. The first costume we see is a mysterious black suit, which may be the beginning stages of a Green Lantern suit (Possibly to be worn by Dan Amboyer?). The suit also bares a striking resemblance to the one worn by Aquaman's villain Black Manta, who has yet to be cast as far as we know. 

The other two suits featured in the picture are much more obvious to point out, with one of them being Momoa's own Aquaman suit. While Snyder had already released a picture of Momoa's Aquaman last year, that photo only gave us a look at the upper half of the character. The suit in the picture seems to be much more complete and very reminiscent of the one in the comics. But of course, probably the most intriguing part of the picture is the inclusion of the Flash suit Ezra Miller will be wearing. It looks a lot like what we've seen in concept art, and it also has a much more armored look than what we're used to seeing on the CW TV show or in the comics.

New 'Doctor Strange' Set Photos Give Us A Better Look At Benedict Cumberbatch As The Sorcerer Supreme

Within the chaos of all of the superhero movies coming our way in 2016, Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange movie has been staying very quite on the marketing front. While fans of the character and of star Benedict Cumberbatch are very excited to see him come to the big screen, the film has been staying relatively under the radar so far. There still hasn't been a trailer or any footage shown, but thanks to some new set photos we now have a better idea of what Cumberbatch will look like in full costume as the Sorcerer Supreme. 

These set photos may not give us much to go by plot wise, but they do give us a better idea of the look director Scott Derrickson (Sinister) is going for with the character. The design seems almost identical to that of the comics, right down to the red cape and collar, and gives off an ancient vibe. Cumberbatch himself also seems to definitely look the park, rocking the grey temples in his hair and the goatee the character is famous for. Below are the set photos:

Apparently this scene also includes two of the movie's most important supporting characters which are Baron Mordo played by Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), and Wong play by Benedict Wong (The Martian). The scene also apparently takes place in New York City, which may of may not be the main setting of the film. We still have yet to find out who the film's villain is (Possibly Mordo?), or see set photos Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One or Rachel McAdam's as Strange's love interest. It should be a matter of weeks before pictures of them surface online as well.

Rumors Suggest 'Wolverine 3' Will Be Rated R And Based On The Old Man Logan Storyline From The Comics

The idea of Rated R superhero movies used to be considered a death sentence, with studio's rarely taking that risk. Now with the success of Fox's Deadpool, the door has been opened for many darker superheroes to finally be adapted to the big screen, and no have their material limited to a PG-13 rated. Fox themselves have a character who has been more than deserving of a darker adaption, with his third outing possibly finally being the first R adaption of the Wolverine to hit the big screen. There's also a chance this the film may be based on the famed 'Old Man Logan' comic book storyline, which is something fans have been waiting anxiously for. 

Now is as good a time as any for Fox to give an R-Rated Old Man Logan movie a shot. With Marvel Studios finally adapting the famous Civil War storyline to the big screen, the chances of getting an Old Man Logan adaption have seemed all the more likely. Thats also not to mention the fact that this is supposedly going to be Hugh Jackman's last turn as Wolverine, and it seems like a fitting conclusion for the character. 

The rumor of the third film being R-Rated comes from a picture taken at Fox event last weekend, which lists the anticipated rating for the movie as R. Both Jackman and director James Mangold have both expressed their interest in making an R film for Wolverine, with 2013's The Wolverine having originally been planned that way. Fox has yet to confirm if this picture is real or if the rating is official, but given the studio's success with Deadpool and the director and actor's interest in having it that way, it seems very likely.

Den of Geek are the ones reporting that the movie will in fact be based on the well known storyline, which pretty much requires an R rating to be adapted correctly. Much like the problem Marvel had to face with Civil War, Old Man Logan features many characters such as an older Hulk, Hawkeye, and Red Skull that Fox does not own the rights too. I'm sure Mangold will find a way to work around this, most likely substituting some of these characters with those already in the X-Men universe, or cutting their parts completely.

'Captain America: Civil War' Graces Empire Magazine Cover; New Details About Who Will Appear Revealed

With the first comic book movie of the year out in theaters already, its safe to say that this year's packed superhero movie season is upon us. 2016 is giving us fans tons of films on both the Marvel and DC front, most notably the heavily marketed showdowns of next month's Batman v. Superman, and May's Captain America: Civil War. After an exciting Super Bowl TV spot, Marvel is making sure that they are getting audiences hyped about their upcoming film, and the marketing campaign shows no signs of lighting up with this all new magazine cover.

The cover was released by Empire Magazine, and may look very familiar to many comic book fans. A very similar cover was used for Civil War #7, which became one of the most iconic images of the entire storyline. It of course features Captain America shielding himself from Iron Man as the two come face to face on the battle field. Much like it did when it was used in the comics, this image really show the severity of the situations and how intense things will become between the heroes during this conflict.

We've known for some time that directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Winter Soldier) would not be directly adapting the Civil War storyline, but this image serves as a reminder that we'll still see some of the iconic moments in there. From what we've heard so far, this version of Civil War will be a much more contained conflict than the all out Marvel universe war we saw in the comics. While that may be different, it seems to motivations and tension between Cap and Iron Man will still be just as strong as it was in that storyline.

The other important tidbit of Civil War news that has made its way online is the possible inclusion of Hulk in the film. For now the only heroes we knew for a fact would be featured were Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Antman (Possibly as Giantman), Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Vision, and Spider-Man. There has been no mention of Hulk in any promotional material, and Mark Ruffalo has never spoken about having a part in the film. As far as we know, the character's next appearance will be in Thor: Ragnarok. Yet in an interview with BBC Radio 1, actor Anthony Mackie (Falcon) name dropped Ruffalo as one of his costars in Civil War. This has led many to believe that he may have just let a big secret slip, and either Bruce Banner or Hulk himself will be making an appearance in the film.
