'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Set Photos Give Us Our First Look At Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio And A New Suit

Its a great time to be a Spider-Man fan, and take that from one of them. With Venom releasing in theaters this week (Despite lackluster reviews), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse just around the corner, a new Spider-Man video game that has surpassed expectations, and a chance to see the wallcrawler on the big screen twice next year, most of us couldn't be happier. Just when we thought we hadn't gotten as much as we were going to get this week, several new set photos dropped from the European set of Spider-Man: Far From Home; the sequel to 2017's Homecoming. The set photos not only give us our first look a comic accurate Mysterio (Minus the bowl head), but a look at a new all black stealth Spider-Man suit that seems to have been provided by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now the first set photos are of course of Jake Gyllenhaal in full costume as Mysterio. Much the delight of fans, it seems the outfit will be very accurate to the comics. This includes the purple cape, green color scheme to most of us suit, and gold on his arms and feet. Notably absent is of course the famous fish bowl looking head Mysterio wears over his head to protect his identity, which he also fills with mist. He may just not be wearing in this specific scene, but its possible that Jon Watts may have script the bowl due to how ridiculous some feels it would look in live action. While fans are hoping this isn't the case, this Mysterio may be using a technique more similar to the Ultimate comics where he hides his face behind a white mist without the actual bowl covering it.

As for the Spider-Man suit we've seen in the pictures, people were quick to draw comparisons to it and the Spider-Man Noir suit from the comics. While Spider-Man Noir exists in an alternate universe and likely has no part in this movie, the influences of this suit on the one being used in the movie are clear. The goggles and vested look specifically are very reminiscent of Noir, but in the latest set photos we also see a S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on his upper chest. This probably means that at some point Nick Fury and Maria Hill, who are confirmed to appear in the movie, help Peter and provide him with a new suit to take on Mysterio.

Although these have been the most notable and revealing of the Far From Home set pics, we have also seen many of Peter and his schoolmates on their class trip in different parts of Europe. Martin Starr, Tony Revolori, and of course Jacob Batalon and Zendaya have all been prevalent in these. There's also been the appearance of another masked character who has been speculated to be the villain Chameleon, but may also just be an illusion created by Mysterio, or some random new character. We've heard rumors of other villains such as Hydro-Man and Molten Man appearing in side roles alongside Mysterio, with speculation suggesting any of these could be the mystery character Remy Hii (Crazy Rich Asians) is playing.

New 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' Trailer Shows Us The Spider-Man Team-Up We Never Knew We Wanted

To be completely honest, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse pretty didn't have to show us anything but the movie's amazing visuals for us to love it. But the trailer already gave us a glimpse of what to expect from the Miles Morales centric movie, with an older Peter Parker mentoring the young new Spider-Man. But now we've gotten an all new trailer that answers one of the biggest questions we've had about this movie, what is the actual plot? Well apparently we'll be getting a multitude of fan favorite iterations of Spider-Men (and Spider-Gwen) who are coming from different universes to help Miles stop Kingpin from destroying his city.

Below is the all new trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse:

The movie is definitely taking a much more meta and self aware approach then we've ever seen Spider-Man before, so basically think family friendly Deadpool. There's references to past Spider-Man movies during Peter Parker's opening monologue, as well as acknowledgement of how he's a comic book character and a famous brand in general. This Peter seems to be a far cry from the clean cut version we're used to seeing, with a much more worn down and care free attitude. What we learn about him in this trailer is that he isn't the current Spider-Man in Miles' world, but is in fact from a separate universe just like the others.

While we know there's going to be several different Spider-Men from different universes who makes cameos, this trailer gives us an idea of who the core group will be. The much more comedic Spider-Ham will be a member of the group, as well as the old-fashioned Spider-Man Noir voiced my Nicolas Cage, the Japanese Peni Parker alongside her mech suit, and Spider-Gwen voiced by Hailee Steinfeld. The three will apparently be meeting up with Peter and Miles from their own respective universes at some point in the movie to take on the main baddie from his own universe; Kingpin (Liev Shreiber). 

Kingpin will apparently be the one who creates a machine known as "the collider" which is what manages to connect all the universes and allow for characters to cross over. This machine is also apparently what is threatening to destroy Miles' version of Brooklyn, where he is apparently their only Spider-Man despite his dad mentioning a previous one. Its possible that this portal is also where the villains such as Scorpion, Tombstone, and Green Goblin all came from other universes.

First Trailer For 'Dark Phoenix' Shows Us Fox's Second Chance At Adapting The Famed Comic Storyline

With Hugh Jackman officially done as Wolverine, Bryan Singer no longer in the director's chair, and the purchase of Fox by Disney all but confirmed, the end of the current iteration of X-Men movies since to be here. But amongst all the excitement of seeing the X-Men and all the characters that come with them finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe under the guidance of Kevin Fiege, many have forgotten there's still a Fox X-Men movie hitting theaters next year. Continuing from where the events of X-Men: Apocalypse left us, Dark Phoenix will be the studio's second attempt at adapting the famous storyline involving and evil overpowered Jean Grey following the backlash of X-Men: The Last Stand over a decade ago.

Below is the first trailer for Dark Phoenix:

The trailer shows a lot of what fans have come to expect from the recent series of movies, with main team set up at the end of Apocalypse all back. Once again Magneto will apparently be at odds with Xavier despite seeming to have found peace with him at the end of the last movie. Its hard to tell what will be the relationship between Jean and Magneto here but it seems he also fears the strength of her powers and harm she can cause in the same way Xavier does. We also see a funeral which has already been predicted by many fans to be Mystique's, which would make sense given how frustrated Hank McCoy seems to be with Xavier.

It seems a major theme this movie will be exploring is whether the X-Men should trust Xavier after what he did to hide Jean's powers. The death of Mystique would certainly explain why Hank McCoy seems to be on Magneto's side of the fight later on in the trailer, as he had strong romantic feelings for her in the past films. Its hard to tell where Jessica Chastain's character fits into all this, but it seems rumors that she would be a Skrull tied to the origins of the Dark Phoenix may be false.

One of the main criticisms this trailer has gotten from fans is just how familiar it feels, specifically to The Last Stand. The former did adapt the Dark Phoenix storyline and led to tragedy amongst the team with both Cyclops and Professor X meeting their end, and her team up with Magneto also being included. Fortunately this movie will apparently have much more time to flesh out the story without the subplot of the mutant cure that was mixed into Last Stand. Fans are are patiently waiting to see these characters in the hands of Marvel Studios even rejoiced at rumors the movie could be canceled because of the Fox deal, but the release date has simply been delayed to June 7th, 2019.

Second 'Creed 2' Trailer Shows Rocky Balboa And Adonis Meeting Face To Face With Ivan Drago Himself

The Rocky movies brought us many iconic opponents through the years, but probably known are as infamous as the Russian Ivan Drago. In a movie released during the times of the Soviet Union, Drago made his mark in the minds of audiences forever when he killed one of Rocky's closest friend Apollo Creed in the ring. Now with a new series focusing on Creed's son Adonis, it was only a matter of time before we got a return for the many who killed his father. But things are even more personal, now that Drago's son wants to take on Adonis himself. Its a story that fans have been waiting to see since this new series started, and now we're finally getting to see it come to reality.

Below is the second official trailer for Creed 2: 

With the first film's director Ryan Coogler stepping down to a producer role for the sequel, some were worried the new film would not be able to live up to the quality of the first in the hands of Steven Caple Jr. While we won't know for sure until the movie hits theaters, this trailer really captures the same dramatic dialogue and performances from Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone in the first. Focusing much more on a now family man and settled down version of Adonis, who even has a kid much like Balboa himself did. This story feels much more personal not only because its one of revenge, but also due to his desire to protect those he loves.

Fans are sure to get a kick out of seeing Dolph Lundgren's Drago who is now training his son to fight Creed come face to face with Balboa. Although we won't be getting to see the two in the ring against each other for obvious reasons, it'll be interesting to see the back and forth and scenes they share together after years of built up hate toward each other. Its already been speculated heavily that Balboa could meet his end in this movie, which if true is certainly going to add another complex layer to this already emotional story.

While Creed's motivations are pretty clear in this movie, its unknown just what exactly is motivating Viktor Drago. The line in the trailer that Balboa tells Creed about Viktor "being raised in hate" definitely sounds interesting, and its possible he too hold resentment towards Balboa and Creed for all the hate his father and their family have received following the match years ago. Florian Munteanu who himself is a boxer is going to be playing the role, with really only one acting credit to his name. It'll be interesting to see how he holds up against polished actors like Stallone, Jordan, Lundgren, and Tessa Thompson.

New Disney Streaming Service Will Feature Big-Budget Shows Focused On Smaller MCU Characters

At this point in the MCU, it feels like just about everyone has gotten their time in the spotlight. With Hulk getting a big role in Thor: Ragnarok after not having a movie for years, Hawkeye getting a lot more to do in Age of Ultron, and Black Widow even getting her own movie soon, its easy to forget some characters haven't been so lucky. Well it seems like this hasn't gone unnoticed by Marvel Studios, as they've announced they will be creating eight episode TV shows based on smaller side characters who audiences want to see more of. While Loki and Scarlet Witch are the two names that have been mentioned, it seems that there may be many more in the pipeline.

Unlike the Netflix shows such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher, these will be directly tied to the MCU. Its thought they may actually fill in story gaps and will become required viewing for fans who want to understand everything going on in the upcoming movies. The Netflix shows and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have both suffered to get all the fans the movies have for that exact reason, they don't feel like you have to see them. It seems this will also be why the series will only be eight episodes, to make it a more contained and cinematic feeling story.

All the actors who play these characters on the big screen such as Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston are expect to reprise their roles, but we also can expect cameos from bigger star characters key to their lives including Chris Hemsworth and Thor and Paul Bettany as Vision. As of right now we know the fate Scarlet Witch and Loki faced in Infinity War, so its likely these shows will be taking place before those events. It'll be interesting to see what other side characters get their own shows with names like Falcon, Winter Soldier, Valkyrie, Mantis, and Hawkeye all already having been thrown around.

The approach to these news shows is already vastly different from past endeavors, as they will actually be produced by Marvel Studios rather than Marvel TV. That means mastermind Kevin Feige will be the one calling the shots on these shows, making them hopefully feels more in line with what we've been getting on the big screen in both quality and continuity. Disney's streaming service (Rumored to be called Disney Plus) is already making big strides with this news, as well as their Jon Favreau run live action Star Wars show, a new adaption of Lady and the Tramp, and a Monsters Inc. show. The company is hoping to rival Netflix with this new service, and right now it seems they might have enough original content to do just that.

Ryan Coogler Will Produce 'Space Jam 2' Starring LeBron James; Release Date May Have Been Revealed

Space Jam 2 has become one of those movies we constantly here is going to happen, but we never actually believe will make it to the big screen. There's been talks of a sequel to the 90s film starring Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes for quite some time now, with the clear new star of the movie always having been LeBron James. But now finally after all these years it looks like things are finally official with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler on board to produce alongside director Terrance Nance. Coogler's involvement is sure to get fan excited, and already picturing the possibilities of what other big names can come on board (Michael B. Jordan has to be in this thing). With LeBron releasing this teaser photo online, some have speculated it might also be showing the release date.

That would be, according to the numbers on the lockers, 1-23-2021. It would certainly make sense as to why they chose these random set of numbers to put on the lockers, although no official announcement has been made to confirm this. 2021 seems like a while from now, but it seems reasonable if the project really is just getting started. Its likely Coogler just coming on board means any past versions of the film by Justin Lin may be scrapped for a whole new vision from the new creative team. 

With LeBron James taking his talent to Los Angeles, we all had a feeling this meant his presence in the entertainment industry would be much more prominent. James starred in the 2013 film Trainwreck in a supporting role to rave reviews, and that was before he was actually full time in LA. The fact that so much progress has been made in such a short span of time on Space Jam 2 is no coincidence, given the athlete can now be much more involved in the project since joining the Lakers in July.

With Coogler and LeBron's name on the project, its likely big names will be flocking to star in the new movie. As I stated above, I wouldn't be surprised if Coogler brings in come of his collaborators including Michael B. Jordan and others. He'll also probably put a lot more effort into the soundtrack as he did with Black Panther, so maybe he can get Kendrick Lamar to make a new album for the film? The possibilities are really endless now, and I personally can't wait to see what Coogler brings to the table.

'Captain Marvel' Trailer Will Take You Right Back To The 90s With Blockbuster And A Young Samuel L. Jackson

The post credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War didn't mean much to most movie goers, but comic book fans who recognized the symbol and Nick Fury's beeper were jumping out of their seats. We still don't have a clue how Captain Marvel will tie into Avengers 4, but we can only hope her upcoming solo movie gives us some answers. What we do know about Marvel's first female led superhero movie is that it will take place in the 90s, and feature some familiar (And digitally younger) faces including Fury and Phil Coulson. We also know that the classic Marvel villainous shapeshifting aliens the Skrulls will finally be making their big screen debut, meaning just about anyone in this movie could secretly be one of them.

Below is the first official trailer for Captain Marvel:

So of course to the relief of many fans who saw the first set photos of Brie Larson in costume as Captain Marvel, its clear that the green suit will only be worn for a portion of the movie. We can see that Danvers is part of a team of sorts led by Jude Law's mystery character (Who we all believe to be Mar Vell, the original Captain Marvel). You also may recognize Korath from Guardians of the Galaxy, and of course Ronan who was the villain of that movie. Its unknown how he will play into the story here, but in the comics his race (The Kree) have been at war with the Skrulls, so its possible he may actually be of some assistance in taking them down.

As for the other big standouts of the trailer, a nearly flawlessly de-aged Samuel L. Jackson shows us a much less experienced and high ranking version of Nick Fury. Its likely that in this movie we will be learning how Fury loses his eye, as we can see a shot of him in a hospital holding ice to it. Clark Gregg's young Agent Coulson unfortunately isn't as convincing, with the CGI looking a bit obvious specifically on his hair. Hopefully the finished product will look just as clean as the work done on Jackson, as his character will probably be getting a lot of screen time. 

Pretty much everything else about this trailer is strictly speculation, but hopefully the old lady Carol punches is actually a Skrull (And not really just some old lady on a train). We hardly see the Skrulls in this trailer, so they'll likely be taking on human forms for most of the movie. There's been speculation the glowing eyes of Law's character good indicate he is one of them. We also learn that Carol Danvers doesn't actually remember if she's from Earth, and only can see bit and pieces of her childhood. This will make for an interesting subplot of her own self discovery of where she came from, similar to the arc Peter Quill went through in Guardians.
