J.J. Abrams take on the classic Star Trek series to audiences and critics by storm, and everyone still has the same question in mind; when will we see a sequel? Well writers Robert Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof have all been pulling their hair out struggling to make the film's release date of June 29 of next year, but they might have a few more months to spare.
There's no surprise that the sequel will be delayed, and it's actually great news that we can expect a much better written and edited film. Last time Orci and Kurtzman had to rush a script, we ended up with the cluttered and disappointing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Now Star Trek won't be going head to head with 2012 summer blockbusters such as The Avenger, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rises, but will instead compete with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Pretty interesting face-off in my opinion.
Abrams chances of directing might've seemed impossible to some, but now that Super 8 is out of production and hitting theaters, he has more time on his hands to bring the film into action. Abrams is also involved with many TV projects such as Alcatraz and Person of Interest, but he's only writing and producing these projects and isn't actually stepping (Or sitting) into the full time director's chair. So there's a much better chance that Abrams will return, especially witht he addition of the much needed time.
What do you think of Star Trek 2 being delayed? What do you think of Abrams returning to direct?
