With Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class hitting theater later this year, many X-Men fans are hoping from a big revival for the X-Men series after two disappointments in a row with both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Well it looks like there's some bad news for X-Men fans looking forward to the franchise's latest installment, as Oscar winning director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), who was originally planned to direct the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel The Wolverine, has dropped out due to the films Japan location and being to separated from is family. But is that the only reason why he left?
Aronofsky released the following statement on his departure from the director's chair of The Wolverine:
"As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again.”

He's basically means that he wants some RR time with his family. When everyone heard that Darren Aronofsky was directing The Wolverine, everyone jumped out of their seats in excitement. But now word has got out that he will not be directing The Wolverine. I think that sure it's a big disappointment but the guy needs a break to be with his family. Imagine if you were a little kid and didn't have your dad or mom for a whole year. How would you feel?
Fox later commented on Aronofsky's departure as well:
"While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do The Wolverine, we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both The Wrestler and Black Swan with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making The Wolverine. We will regroup and move forward aggressively.”
Fox has a good point, it's not like he will stop doing movies, there will be more of his movies in the future. The BIG question is will David Slade give up directing the Daredevil reboot for the The Wolverine, considering the fact he was originally in line to direct The Wolverine. The Wolverine was set to hit theaters summer of next year but will most likely be delayed as the film seeks a new director.
So What Is Your Opinion On Aronofsky Leaving The Wolverine? Who do you think should replace him?
