Ben Affleck Reveals First Footage Of Deathstroke Rumored To Be Played By Joe Manganiello

Let be honest, Monday's aren't really fun for anyone. Well apparently unless your Ben Affleck. I guess Mr. Affleck wanted to bestow a taste of his badass Mondays onto his gracious fans, cause he dropped some behind the scenes footage of Deathstroke on all his social media account. The footage caught the Internet by surprise, as there's been no rumors or indicators that the character would be making his big screen debut anytime soon. While we can assume the footage shown is from Justice League, rumor has it the character will be the main villain of The Batman solo movie. Not only that, but we also might already know which actor is donning the mask in the test footage.

As I stated above, Affleck randomly posted the footage which was seemingly filmed on the set of Justice League from a screen monitor. It was posted with neither a caption or sound, but fans could tell right away who the character was supposed to be. While some speculated Affleck might've just been teasing by posting video game footage or a fan film, its since been all but confirmed that the footage is from a legitimate DC film. All signs point to that film being Justice League, which is still currently in production. We know the villain of that film will be Steppenwolf, but I guess we can expect to see an appearance from Deathstroke somewhere in the movie.

We have no idea how Deathstroke will factor into Justice League, but we do know that the test footage was filmed at the team's vehicle the Flying Fox. Its possible that Deathstroke might be another side antagonist the team has to face along with Steppenwolf, but there could also even be a team up between the mercenary and the heroes at the some point. As of right now its all speculation, and Ben Affleck's cryptic tweet isn't much to go by. We also aren't sure if this the official look the character will be sporting in the movie, or if its just an early concept. 

Since the footage surfaced, several rumors have already emerged in regards to the character role in the DC Expanded Universe. We know that at some point in Suicide Squad's development David Ayer considered using the character, and several actors were even rumored for the part. One of which was Joe Manganiello (True Blood), who had previously tested for Superman in Man of Steel. Reports suggest Manganiello is the actor behind the mask in the footage, and that he'll be serving as the primary antagonist of Ben Affleck's Batman solo movie.

Martin Scorsese's 'The Irishman' Starring Robert De Niro And Al Pacino Eyes 2018 Release

Anyone who has ever seen a mafia movie in their life time is probably familiar with one of the two guys in the picture above. Even at their current age, Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver) and Al Pacino (Scarface) are regarded as two of the most famous actors of all time, and you partner up those two with a director like Martin Scorsese (The Wolf of Wallstreet) and you have an Italian American match made in heaven. Yet ironically enough the trio's upcoming film is actually called The Irishman, and will focus on the inner working of the Irish mafia and specifically the life of Frank Sheeran. 

The film has been in the works for quite a while, but it seems Scorsese has finally gotten the ball rolling by eyeing a late 2018 release date according to Deadline. It will likely begin filming some time in early 2017, and will be hitting theaters just in time for award season of the following year. Scorsese's films have a knack for gaining a lot of interest from the academy, and with huge stars like Pacino and De Niro attached it will certainly gain even more attention.

The Irishman will also be a big film for both actors, and it will mark the first movie Scorsese makes starring Pacino, and a return to collaborating with De Niro since their 1995 film Casino. Both actors have struggled to have the same success with their recent roles that they had in their younger year, so it'll hopefully a return to form and quality for the pair. The budget of the film will also be around $100 million because Scorsese is actually planning on de-aging Pacino and De Niro so they can play younger versions of the characters, rather than having younger actors play those parts. Someones gonna have to call Dave Franco and break the news to him, I'm sure he was hoping to land that part.

Frequent mafia movie regular Joe Pesci (Goodfellas) was also originally set to star in The Irishman, but he ultimately chose to drop out and go back into retirement. There's always the possibility of Scorsese convincing him to come back, but it doesn't seem likely at this point. Scorsese currently has his film Silence starring Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, and Adam Driver eyeing an unspecified release date this year for award season attention, but it seems the movie still stands at over three hours. If it indeed is delayed till next year, that my effect the release of The Irishman.

Rumors Suggest Zendaya Is In Fact Playing Mary Jane Watson In 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Spider-Man: Homecoming has already been filming for quite some time now, and with all the cast additions it has had its hard to remember a time when Tom Holland was the only person confirmed to star in this movie. That was of course until it was announced in March that Disney Channel star Zendaya would be joining the movie as a character named "Michelle". Despite director Jon Watts seemingly confirmed that this would be the name of Zendaya's character at Comic-Con, many still remain suspicious of the character's true identity. Well it seems the skeptics may have been on to something, because apparently the actress is playing someone much more iconic.

According to The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, Zendaya will actually be playing Peter Parker's famous love interest Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming film. According to the site, several sources close to the film have stated that Zendaya is Mary Jane but the studio was hoping to keep that secret as a surprise for audiences. I guess its too late for that. This wouldn't be the first time a director uses a different name to keep an iconic character's identity hidden until the movie hits theaters, as its been a tactic used several time by Christopher Nolan such as with Talia al Ghul.

The decision to cast Zendaya as Mary Jane has of course already caused uproar amongst the internet, with many siting the actresses race and appearance as a reason for their frustration. Zendaya would be the first black actress to ever play the role, and while she doesn't have the traditional red hair the character sports in the comics she may die it at some point in time. Regardless her appearance shouldn't be an issue especially considering the fact that Zendaya is actually a model just like MJ in the comics. We've also known for some time that director Jon Watts wanted to go with a diverse cast of characters to give an accurate representation of a school in Queens, so not having Mary Jane be white makes sense in that regard.

As I stated above, although Zendaya may be the first black actress to play the role of MJ she isn't the first. Many fans will remember Kirsten Dunst portrayal of the iconic character opposite Tobey Maguire in the original films, which had a mixed response from fans since she was more of a damsel in distress type then her traditional comic book counterpart. The character was also to be played by Shailene Woodley (Divergent) in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but her scenes were ultimately cut from the film. Zendaya will definitely be bringing us a unique and creative take on the character that hopefully is closer to the more independent MJ of recent comics.

Ray Fisher's Cyborg Will Apparently Be Making An Appearance In 'The Flash' Solo Movie

Hey DC fans, are you hoping to see the bromance between Hal Jordan and Barry Allen finally on the big screen? Well too bad. As we all know by now, Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern won't be featured in Zack Snyder's upcoming Justice League movie (At least as far as we know). The character has instead been replaced by Teen Titans favorite and recent JL member in the New 52 Cyborg played by Ray Fisher. We've already heard that there will be a strong friendship between Fisher's Cyborg and Ezra Miller's Flash in the Justice League movie, but apparently the two are even closer than we thought.

According the Variety, Fisher's Cyborg will be making some kind of appearance in 2018's Flash solo movie. We next to nothing about the movie, including who the villain will be and what exactly the plot is, but we can expect a pretty big threat if he really needs Cyborg's help to get the job done (Gorilla Grood anyone?). We do know that the film is now being helmed by Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, who has cast his collaborator from that film Kiersey Clemons as Barry Allen's love interest Iris West in the film.

Audiences have actually already been introduced to Cyborg via a clip in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, where we saw his father Silos Stone attempt to save his life by morphing the injured body of his son Victor with a mother box. Considering what the character has been through and the fact that he can no longer lead a human life since he's mostly machine, he will certainly make for an interesting and complex character if handled right. Barry Allen's relationship with Cyborg will be interesting to see explored, yet we still don't know just how important he'll be in the movie.

While one would assume Cyborg is gonna get in on the action with the Flash in the movie, it may just be a quick appearance or dialogue scene between the two characters that we end up getting. DC and Warner Bros. are really baking on first time on screen actor Ray Fisher winning over audiences on Cyborg in both Justice League and The Flash, as the character will be getting his own solo movie in 2019. The decision to give him a solo movie was question by many fans considering the fact that the character he usually a part of a team and doesn't of much mythology on his own in the comics, but if the character is a real standout then its easy to see the Cyborg movie working out.

Remake Of Stephen King's 'It' Reveals First Look At The New Pennywise The Clown

Netflix's new series Stranger Things really paid tribute to the classic Steven Spielberg films and Stephen King novels of the 80s, and their results were very positive. The series has not only blown up in popularity in the last month, but it has also gotten excellent review for recapturing the nostalgia and feel of the era it takes place in. With so many people left wanting more of the series, the upcoming It remake is hoping to capitalize on that nostalgia and popularity of a story pitting an unlikely group of kids against an otherworldly threat.

The original It was of course a miniseries based on the Stephen King novels of the same name. King should be a familiar name to several movie buffs for his work on the source material of classics such as The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Stand By Me, and The Shining. The It miniseries was a standout in the 90s, and featured Tim Curry in the lead villain role of Pennywise the Clown. Over the years Curry's performance has been considered both horrifying and iconic, so it's clear that the remake wants to differentiate this version of the character from the old one.

Pennywise will now be played by a new and much younger actor named Bill Skarsgård (Hemlock Grove) who certainly has some big shoes to fill (No pun intended). The remake has been through several changes since its announcement including director Cary Fukunga (Beast of No Nation) being replaced by horror movie director Andrés Muschietti (Mama). Will Poulter was also initially cast as Pennywise, but he had to give up the part due to his role in The Revenant. We now have our first official looks at Skarsgård's version of Pennywise thanks to EW:

For those who don't know much about Pennywise, he's basically a demonic clown who feeds off children. If that sounds disturbing to you, its because it is. But much in the same vain as Stranger Things, the film focuses on a young group of unlikely heroes in 1989 known as the "Losers Club" who search for the killer of the one of the group member's younger brothers. Even the producers of the film have acknowledged the similarities to Stranger Things, and stated they'll be taking some pointers from the series. They even share cast member Finn Wolfhard, which you'll remember as Mike from Stranger Things will be playing Richie Tozier in this movie.

'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Trailer And International Trailer Debut Featuring The Return Of Darth Vader

Alright so who would've thought a Star Wars movie that isn't an official episode of the original series would be getting so much buzz on the internet. Yet that has been the exact case for this year's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which will once again be taking us to a time before we were introduced to Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Gareth Edward's film has been in the press lately but for the wrong reasons with talks of reshoots and concern from Disney in altering the movie, but fans seemingly have nothing to worry about if this new trailer is anything to go by.

As I stated above, the trailers certainly will win over fans and even regular movie goers despite some of the early concerns about the film. Some of the shots in this movie look like they're right out of the original trilogy (With improved CGI of course) and thats something that will really help this movie feel like its part of the same world as the others. But as we've heard in the past, director Gareth Edwards is really going for a war movie type of vibe here and you can already get that feeling from this trailer.

We also get to see a lot more of the characters that will be a part of the group of rebels who will be searching for the plans to the death star, and we learn a little more about their back stories. Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso of course takes the spotlight as the film's lead, but we also learn that her father played by Mad Mikkelson will have some sort of key importance the plot and the creation of the Death Star (Is he the one who created the plans?). We even get a look at the film's new droid K-2SO played by Alan Tudyk, he seems to share C-3PO's sense of humor.

But of course the highlight of this trailer is the appearance of famed villain Darth Vader at the very end. Its unknown how important he will be in this film but one can only hope that we'll get to see him in action against the group of heroes. We've known for some time that Vader was going to be in the movie and that he'd once again be voiced by James Earl Jones (Thankfully not Hayden Christensen), yet we still don't know how much screen time he'll be getting or even we'll even see him wield his famous red lightsaber. One can only hope Edwards and co. are saving that for audiences to see when Rogue One hits theaters this December.

Jason Momoa's 'Aquaman' Will Be Facing Off Against Famed Villain Black Manta In James Wan's Film

With three of DC's Extended Universe films already having hit theaters, its about time we start hearing more about their upcoming projects. One such project is James Wan's (The Conjuring) Aquaman film starring Jason Momoa in the lead role. We haven't heard much about the film aside from the fact that Amber Heard will be playing his love interest Mera, but it looks like we now finally know who the villain will be. Comic book fans will be pleased to here that Aquaman will apparently be facing his arch-nemesis Black Manta on the big screen.

The news of the character's inclusion comes courtesy of The Wrap, but both director James Wan and Warner Bros. refuse to confirm or deny if this is true. It would seem like a safe bet to assume the character will be making an appearance, especially considering Aquaman's less than impressive rogues gallery to chose from, and Black Manta's significance in the comics. While many might have thought the first film would start with a smaller threat and we'd see Manta in a sequel, it seems Wan really wants to impress audiences with the action and high stakes of the first Aquaman movie.

DC's movies as of yet have really struggled with their villains, and its been an area of their films that has been heavily scrutinized by critics. Both the villains of Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad were considered to be either under used or poorly written, and this will hopefully be mistakes the studio learns from for future movies. Black Manta has some pretty clear motives in the comics, with even aspects of his race and discrimination coming into to play at a point. Its unknown whether Wan will be keeping that part of the character intact, but it would certainly make for some interesting on screen drama.

No actors have been rumored for the part just yet, but we can expect to hear some names thrown around soon. Several actors have already come out on social media to express their interest in playing the role, one of which is The Wire's Michael K. Williams. Williams may be a bit older than the studio is looking for, but he can certainly play the dramatic side of Manta. Michael Jai White who is best known for playing Spawn and Black Dynamite has also expressed interest in the part, and he'd definitely make for a compelling physical match for Momoa's Aquaman.

Trailer And Poster For Netflix And Marvel's Upcoming Series 'Luke Cage' Show Us What To Expect

Marvel Studios has certainly found a way to do their street level heroes justice without having them lead their own films. The partnership between them and Netflix has already brought us the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and will also be bringing us Iron Fist, The Defenders, Punisher, and of course Luke Cage himself. Mike Colter will be returning as the famed comic book character he previously portrayed in Jessica Jones, this time leading his own show on the streets of Harlem, New York.

Below is the full trailer for Netflix's Luke Cage:

Unlike the trailer released at Comic-Con, this one gives us a better idea of the story and supporting character we'll be seeing in the show. Rosario Dawson's character Claire Temple who fans will recognize from Daredevil will apparently be playing a significant role in the show if this trailer is anything to go by. We also get a peak of the origins of Cage and how he got his powers in an experiment done on him while he was in prison.

Show runner Cheo Hodari Cooker has already described the show as superhero version of the hit series The Wire, with a lot of it dealing with street level crime and the corrupt politics of Harlem. The show will also be going for a very 90s hip hop vibe that the trailer itself gives off, and the soundtrack will certainly factor into that as well. Below are a few official images released from the show portraying a few characters including Cage, Temple, Alfred Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades Alvarez, and Mahershala Ali as the big baddie Cornell 'Cottonmouth' Stokes. It seems like Luke Cage has a strong cast of supporting characters and actors that'll surely make the narrative even more interesting. Having said that, one can't help but wonder if any other heroes will be making an appearance throughout the series, specifically Cage's partner in crime in the comics Danny Rand, who is set to appear in his own show very soon. Can we expect to see the Heroes for Hire unite on screen in an early introduction for the character? One can only hope so.

Warner Brothers And DC Reportedly Have A 'Man of Steel' Sequel In Active Development

Although the reviews for Suicide Squad have been pretty harsh thus far, that doesn't seem to be stopping fans from seeing the movie as it has come on top of the box office. DC seems to have no plans of slowing down with their upcoming busy release schedule, including both Wonder Woman and Justice League hitting next year. Yet some of their projects have unfortunately taken a backseat amongst all the chaos of the growing DC Extended Universe, one of which is a legitimate sequel to 2013's Man of Steel. Well it looks like the studio does still in fact intend to release the sequel after all, and its apparently a top priority.

According to The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, it seems Warner Bros. is certainly prioritizing the Man of Steel sequel and want to make sure they get the character right for fans. Audiences for the most part warmed up to Cavill's version of the character in his introduction in Man of Steel, but many complained that he was portrayed as too dark or too violent. This was of course something that was expanded on in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, a film that many had at first believed would be the sequel to Man of Steel.

But that of course wasn't the case as Superman shared the screen with many other characters and heroes including Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. So suffice to say, although the majority of the film took place in Metropolis and Superman's villains Lex Luthor and Doomsday were the primary antagonists of story, Dawn of Justice never felt like a straight up solo movie for the Man of Steel. With Superman set to make his return from the dead for Justice League, we can expect him to be a changed man who has been through a lot more experience when Man of Steel 2 rolls around.

There's still many things up in the are about the sequel, including when it would actually be released. DC has a busy schedule up until 2020, but many of this is susceptible to change. Especially with Ben Affleck's Batman film, the rumored Harley Quinn film, and possibly Suicide Squad 2 likely set to make their way onto said schedule. We also don't know if Zack Snyder would return to direct now that he has the responsibility of helming the Justice League films, so he may have to pass on to the duties to someone else. But the biggest question is of course who will be facing of against Superman in the sequel, with several possibilities including fan favorites such as Metallo and Brainiac having yet to make their big screen debut.

The First Trailer For Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' Gives Us A Look At The Film's Stunning Cinematography

As a self declared Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception) fan boy, its hard not to get excited every time I see his name on a project, especially when he's in the director's chair. While the trailers for his films may give little to no detail of the plot, you can still count on Nolan to give you an intriguing narrative brought to life by an extremely talented cast. It seems like his upcoming film Dunkirk will be following just that very formula, with the likes of Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, and Harry Styles (Yes, the guy from One Direction) also set to star in the WWII drama. We now finally have our first look at the movie thanks to its recent announcement trailer.

As you'd expect for Christopher Nolan, the trailer doesn't give us a look at any of the main actors and characters of the film, as well as no information about the plot. He instead goes for a series of powerful shots edited to be perfectly in sync with the trailer's score. This trailer if anything else shows off the talent of Nolan's new cinematography collaborator Hoyte van Hoytema, who also worked with the director on Interstellar. Hoytema has seemingly become Nolan's new go-to following his former collaborator Wally Pfister's decision to become a director himself.

While Nolan's track record speaks for itself with film's such as Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight trilogy, and Inception all to his credit, his last project Interstellar didn't fair as well with credit. Many considered the film to be overly ambitious, but the majority of Nolan's fans still appreciated the cleverness and intrigue of that film. None the less Nolan is keeping it simple with Dunkirk, as it will be the directors first project based on an actual real life event. With such a talented cast on board and a new challenge for its director, its hard not be both excited and curious to see what Dunkirk has in store for audiences next summer.

'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Concept Art, Character Identities, And Footage Description Surface Online

Its hard to believe that in the last ten years, we've already had three different incarnations of Spider-Man on the big screen. Following Marvel Studios acquisition of the character and his beloved appearance in Captain America: Civil War, its safe to say people are pretty happy with Tom Holland's version of the character (Sorry Tobey and Andrew). Having that in mind, Marvel has really gotten things going with their solo movie Spider-Man: Homecoming set to hit July of next year, and they didn't shy away from giving fans some information about the film at this year's Comic-Con.

During the panel for Homecoming, director Jon Watts was brought on stage along with star Tom Holland, Laura Harrier, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Jacob Batalon. One thing that has really gotten a lot of attention is the amount of people starring in this movie, but luckily having these characters on stage gives us a better idea of which actors are playing more key characters in the film. Watts again teased how the movie will definitely show Peter Parker dealing with teenage problems while having to keep this secret from people, and he will be a fifteen year old sophomore in the film. The attendees of the screening were then shown footage which unfortunately hasn't been released online, but thankfully we've gotten a description of it below courtesy of Screen Rant:

The trailer opens with an amusing montage set to Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” showing all of the Avengers’ (including Stephen Strange) high school yearbook portraits to illustrate that all heroes have a beginning. It then cuts to Midtown High to provide a breakdown of Peter Parker’s day. In addition to attending classes and admiring cute girls from a distance, he’s also working hard on maintaining his crime fighting lifestyle. There’s funny bits of comedy when Parker is watching a YouTube video of his battle against Giant Man in Civil War during a science seminar, and when he’s mixing a new web fluid formula at school.

 Since Homecoming has only just begun principal photography, just about all of the reel was dedicated to depicting the high school scenes (with appearances by Zendaya, Angourie Rice, and other teenagers), but there was a portion of costumed Spidey action. Parts of what is most likely the set piece hinted at in leaked set photos (Spider-Man on a truck) was shown, giving the fans the briefest of tastes of classic web-slinging action. It ended with confirmation that the villain would be the Vulture, whose appearance from the comics has been upgraded. The antagonist looks like he’s wearing an Iron Man suit with wings. That may not necessarily be the case, but the outfit was certainly mechanical in nature.

Most of what is seen in the trailer isn't much of a surprise to anyone, mainly including the light coming of age story Jon Watts has teased for the film. Both he and Kevin Feige have compared the movie to those of John Hughes' in the eighties, and it sounds like that is exactly the vibe this new trailer gave off. The reveal of Vulture as the villain is also hardly surprising, and it is all but confirmed that Michael Keaton will be playing the character. We were also given our first look at the character in concept art the was officially released by the studio, which you can see below:

Lastly, in an interview alongside his cast Jon Watts finally revealed the identities of some of the supporting characters of Homecoming. He confirmed that Tony Revolori is in fact playing Peter's high school bully Flash Thompson, which a departure from the usual towering blonde hair blue-eyed version from the comics. He also revealed Laura Harrier is Liz Allen, Zendaya is Michelle (Gonzalez?), and Jacob Batalon is Ned Leeds. Leeds is the second man to sport the Hobgoblin costume in the comics, but I don't we should expect Batalon's version of the character to have much in common with his comic book counterpart.

First Image Of The 'Justice League' United Revealed Along With A New Trailer At Comic-Con

Fans around the world always know to keep an eye out for book comic book movie news and announcements from studios once the San Diego Comic-Con rolls around, and this year is no different. Fresh off the mixed reaction to this years blockbuster Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and with Suicide Squad just around the corner, Warner Bros. and DC wanted to make it clear that they weren't pulling any punches at SDCC this year. Not only did they drop the first official look of the entire Justice League united, but they also gave us a sizzle reel/trailer for the upcoming film.

Alright so of course between the trailer and the image, there's a lot for DC fans to take in here. While we might have seen three of the six Justice League members in action during the events of Batman v. Superman, this trailer gives us our first real look at both Ezra Miller's Flash and Ray Fisher's Cyborg. But I'll get to them later. First off the tone of this trailer certainly seems to be much lighter and more comedic than that of BVS, which is something Zack Snyder has spoken about as a big change he made for this film. The director has emphasized how he wants to make this film fun for audience, and it seems like he's done just that judging by this trailer.

The trailer also has a severe lack of Superman for obvious reasons (He's "dead" in case you forgot), and Snyder has already suggested that the Man of Steel will be absent for the majority of the movie. We probably won't be seeing footage of Superman in the movie anytime soon, but in inclusion in the official team photo that was released seems to be a good sign of his importance in the film. Jason Momoa's Aquaman also gets his time to shine in the trailer, and we can certainly expect a much grittier and more badass version of the character than we've ever seen before. It seems like he'll definitely be at odds with Bruce Wayne at first, and it seems like it's going to be pretty difficult to get him to join their team.

But of course the most talked about characters of the trailer are Flash and Cyborg in our first official looks at them in full costume. Flash's costume lines up with a lot of the descriptions we've been hearing of a more armored Injustice type of suit. Cyborg on the other hand seems pretty accurate to his comic book look, and the majority of him is definitely CGI as we had heard in previous reports. Ezra Miller's Barry Allen will apparently provide much of the comedic relief of the film judging by  this trailer, and we finally have a look at the famous apartment scene between him and Bruce Wayne we've been hearing about.
