Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Set To Headline The Upcoming Reboot/Remake of 'Jumanji'

Even any fans of The Rock were worried back when the actor wasn't getting much work aside from the Fast and Furious movies, they have no reason to be concerned anymore. The guy has been churning out an impressive resume of hits lately, with several more on the way later this year and next year including Central Intelligence, Moana, Baywatch, Rampage, and Fast 8. Well it seems the actor has no plans on stopping his extensive line of work there, as he has recently confirmed his involvement in Sony's upcoming remake of the nineties family hit Jumanji

The Rock took to his own Instagram account of announce his involvement with the project, which will also include the involvement of his production team Seven Bucks Production. According to Johnson, the team will be helping to tweak the script that Sony already has in place to give it a more "edgy" feel. From his involvement, I'm sure we can now expect to see much more action in this rendition of Jumanji than we saw in the original 1995 Robin Williams film. But of course given The Rock's track record of family friendly movies, Jumanji will likely keep that same vibe from the original.
It's OFFICIAL: Love this script! Big movie news that me and my canine gal Shang are excited to share;) To produce, create and deliver original properties to fans like HBO's #ballers to this summer's #CentralIntelligence is one of the best parts of my job. But to take great properties that are beloved worldwide like #BAYWATCH and #RAMPAGE and have the opportunity reimagine their stories in dope new ways to a whole new generation is truly an honor. It's official. We'll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs: There's games you play for fun... then there's games that change your life. JUMANJI Working on edging up an already very good script with my @sevenbucksprod team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up;). As always I'll keep you posted. Casting this should be fun! #JUMANJI #JungleLife #JustPressStart #SONYPictures

Johnson is certainly a great choice to lead a film like Jumanji, given that Robin Williams classic performance in the original film leaves some big shoes to fill. Much like Williams did at the time, Johnson has a very likeable and fun personality that both children and parents find enjoyable on the big screen. It still remains unknown whether this film will be a direct remake of the original, or just an adventure involving another group finding the board game. If it does end up being a remake though, Johnson will likely be playing the same character Williams did who was trapped in the game for twenty six years.
While Johnson was he first official person to be cast in the film, recent rumors have suggested that the actor would be partnering with his Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart for the film. There hasn't been any official word on Hart's involvement, but it would seem likely considering how much the chemistry between the two actors has flourished following their work on the film and hosting of the MTV Movie Awards. Surely the critical and financial response to Central Intelligence will detect whether audience's will want to see the two pair up again in Jumanji, but it would definitely make for a fun movie.
So are you excited to see The Rock star in a remake of Jumanji? Would you like to see him reteam with Kevin Hart for the film? Let us know below!

Robert Downey Jr. Joins The Growing Cast of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' As Michael Keaton Drops Out

With Captain America: Civil War just a few weeks away, the anticipation to see Marvel Studios' version of Spider-Man make his debut has been increasing. Early viewers have already revealed that audiences can expect to see Tom Holland's version of the webslinger in at least thirty minutes of the films run time, which may not be enough for some fans. Well for those hoping to see more of the MCU's version of the famed character, they won't have to wait much longer as his solo film Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters next summer. The cast of the film has been growing over the last couple of days, with official news of RDJ's inclusion in the film recently surfacing.

The news of Robert Downey Jr.'s role in the film won't come as much of a surprise to most fans. We've known for quite some time from rumors that Marvel was very keen to include many of their own already established characters in the film, specifically Iron Man. Spider-Man himself will actually be featured on Iron Man's team in Civil War, so it appears the two characters will have a strong bond. While we don't know how important of a part Tony Stark will be playing in Homecoming, we can expect to see him be a sort of mentor to Peter Parker and possibly suit up alongside him.
As for the other big casting announcement in regards to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Deadline has reported that Michael Keaton has dropped out of the running to play the film's villain. It had been reported last week that Keaton was in talks for the undisclosed part, which rumored to be the Spider-Man villain Vulture. No other names had been suggested with Keaton's, so there is still no idea as to which actors Marvel is now looking at to take on the role Keaton would've had.
Despite Keaton's absence, the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming that is shaping up around lead actor Tom Holland has been very impressive. An array of young talented actors such as Zendaya, Laura Harrier, and Tony Revolori have all officially come on board and will likely play fellow students of Peter Parker. Marisa Tomei will also of course be reprising her role from Civil War as Peter's Aunt May, who will be a much younger rendition of the character than audiences are used to.
So are you excited to see Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man make an appearance? Are you disappointed Michael Keaton won't be playing the villain? Let us know below!
