Family Guy Creator Seth MacFarlane To Reboot The Flintstones

Seth MacFarlane is probably one of the most prominent cartoonists around right now, with his shows Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show all being major successes. Now he has a new cartoon in mind, but you'd never guess what it is; The Flintstones.

According to Deadline, MacFarlane's dream has been to have his own take on the Hanna Barbera classic, and Fox is giving him that chance with a The Flintstones reboot. 20th Century Fox has worked out a deal with Warner Bros. to get The Flintstones rights and is allowing MacFarlane to reboot it as both  “as a TV and film property."
Now don't expect MacFarlane's classic to be anything like the classic series. If his all new take is anything like his parodies of the show that his had on Family Guy, the show have be a much more adult rated animated comedy, similar to his other shows. So if you're hoping his new series will introduce your kid to The Flintstones you know and love, think again.
But we really can't assume that MacFarlane's new Flinstones will be as adult as his recent works. Seth has worked on many other popular kid friendly properties, some even for Disney. Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, and Jungle Cubs. So we can only hope brings back that writing from his old work, rather than his all new almost "Too much more TV" brand. I guess will have to see what route MacFarlane takes when it premieres on Fox.

What do you think of MacFarlane rebooting the Flintstones?
